Mr
Melchers’ visit to the Böhmer factory in
Germany
|
|
 |
“Böhmer
24” valve installed on Singapore PowerGas
Pipeline |
|
|
|
| |
Since
mid 2004 C. Melchers GmbH & Co. Singapore has a new
department: Oil & Gas Equipment. The department
counts as their clients: Oil & Gas refineries,
Petrochemical plants, Power Stations as well as Oil
& Gas pipeline owners, operators and engineering
companies.
|
| |
The
department had started off when in early 2004 an
inquiry came from Power Seraya (
Singapore
) to supply a ball valve for their gas plant. Melchers
turned to their supplier Werner Böhmer GmbH. Within
10 days of order a 10” valve arrived at the Power
Seraya site. Singapore PowerGas took notice of this
and invited Melchers to offer the Böhmer valves for
an important pipeline tender. In September 2004, the
tender was awarded to a value of over US$1million. The
valves are now operational on a pipeline in Tuas.
|
| |
|
The
Singapore
department also covers
Indonesia
and
Malaysia
. In cooperation with PT. Melindo
Indonesia
, where we have recently appointed a salesman, we are
now in the process of tendering for various Indonesian
pipeline projects. In addition to that, Melchers is
working on a tender to supply valves for new power
stations in
Singapore
.

|
Apart
from the strong links to Werner Böhmer GmbH and the
strong support from Mr Axel Knie of MTE Bremen, Melchers
also supplies gas filters to power stations, gas odour
measuring devices for city use and is now looking into
natural gas conversion kits for diesel and petrol
vehicles as well as gas compressor stations for petrol
stations.

On 14 January 2005, the Singapore Watch
Department moved a few levels up from its existing
premise at Wisma Atria, to occupy a new office
area of 400sqm. This
expansion plan was not only in line with Breitling
SA’s international “Service Quality”, but
the Watch Department also foresaw the need to
emphasize on After-Sales Service, so as to meet
the demands of today’s customers.
Additional staff were also recruited to
gear up for the future. |
| |
The marketing & communications team also
increased its headcount to help develop more
activities to further increase brand activities in
Singapore
and around the region. |

Sky
Tower,
one of Sentosa’s latest tourist
attractions, opened its doors to the
public on 7 February 2004. It has since
been a roaring success and visitor
numbers exceed our expectations!
|

|
On
that bright and sunny day,
Sky
Tower
welcomed its first visitors to a
breathtaking, panoramic view across
Singapore, Sentosa and the
Southern Islands. As the cabin revolved slowly to a height
of 131 metres above sea level, the
magnificent scenery rose into view. At
almost 28 storeys high, this view extends
far and wide. See Sentosa’s beaches
teaming with youthful bodies, the ever
busy Cable Car gliding above the natural
foliage of Mt Faber, bearthing ships in
Keppel
Harbour
as the icon of Singapore
– the Merlion moves into sight.

business model, identified and negotiated
the land lease, attached both foreign and
local equity and a bank loan, and is now
managing the facility.
